So I click on the link to the new OAC Forum, which has all the visual appeal of an online government form -- and is as confusing.  Not having received an "activation email" I tried to log in with my OAC ID and password.  I then get the unhappy answer, "That User name does not exist."  Asked to supply a "session length" I have no idea what that is.  Is it expected that enough OAC viewers and participants will figure this out to make discussion of the Candomble paper viable?

Yes, it isn't yet as cheery as the ning site, but perhaps things have been getting a bit too 'liberal' around here and we need to knock people back into shape--we don't want folk starting to think the OAC is some kind of 'safe space' do we?

That is odd about not getting the email. I registered fine first time round, however, just to see, I now registered again with another email and found the same problem as you -- I didn't get the necessary email that would allow me to complete the process -- I have asked Avi, who controls the site.

Hi Lee,

Yes the new forum part has a slightly more hardened feel to it, mainly because that is what literally hardened forum software looks like. I am looking at better skins for future 'hard launch' but for the meantime I hope it will do.

I am guessing your activation email went into the 'Spam Folder' of your email if you could check? If not I will set you up an account and try and work out what the bug is.

This is a soft launch if you will so there will be multiple issues arising over the next month or so as we transition. I will be on hand to try and make it as smooth as possible, so please hang in there and report any problems to me (abrahamheinemann@gmail.com) as this is helpful in terms of test running it.

Thanks

Avi

Huon,

Just a tad snarky.  But I like it, shows passion.  And, even better, you got a streak a mean in you boy.

Avi,

Hard launch, better skins.  Did I click on a porn site?  Don't think my "activation code" landed in Spam, but then that's so cluttered with routine offers of penis enlargement and -- since my name is androgynous -- breast enhancement.  In keeping up with the times, I've been thinking of trying them both, then heading for North Carolina and its public rest rooms. .  In the meantime, I've succeeded in registering and will await an email.  Thanks for your help.

Just to say that the seminar officially opens tomorrow (Weds, 15th) but is already open for view and comment.
