The Faculty of Social Sciences and the Interculturalism, Migration and Minorities Research Center (IMMRC) at KU Leuven, Belgium, invite applications for an open rank academic position in anthropology with a specialization in analysing migration and culture, with an emphasis on the processes at work in the (re)production of socio-cultural boundaries and crossings between as well as within cultures and societies. The position will begin in October 2013, and the candidate will be expected to hold a Ph.D. degree at the time of appointment.
The successful candidate will be a full-time member of the Interculturalism, Migration and Minorities Research Center (IMMRC). The Center focuses its anthropological research on people's mobilities and various types of boundaries. The Center invites candidates who have conducted ethnographic fieldwork that disentangles how processes of identity-building and identification relate to ethnicity, gender disability, religion, and lifestyle. Documentation of fieldwork in regions that are exemplary for the linking of different parts of the world, in interstitial zones, marginal and transnational spaces, is indispensable. The Center invites candidates that elaborate expertise in the creative potential of interconnected worlds as this is being realized in new skills, representations, and performances.
