CALL FOR PAPERS
SASC 2014
11th Annual Conference of the Romanian Society for Social and Cultural Anthropology November 21st-22nd / Cluj
Panel 18. Agri-Food Production at the Fringe of EU Politics: New Pe...
The homogenising pressure of EU policies paired with the flexibilisation pressure of neoliberal market forces gives rise to a new, post-modern rurality where processes of de-peasantisation and re-peasantisation run side by side as livelihood strategies. A new peasant class is emerging, as small-scale and so-called traditional farming are being reconfigured in a new horizon of post-productivist moralities and aesthetics, where the purity of production and the roles of ecological and landscape custodian often prevail. The structuring force of the Common Agricultural Policy filtered by national institutional settings results into grey areas of unregulated, misimplemented or miscommunicated fields, which can act as loopholes where both marginal or marginalised courses of action (“getting by”) and agri-business strategies can be acted out: seed autonomy and GMOs, land rights, common property management, pastoral nomadism etc. The panel seeks papers approaching – but not limited to – the following topics: agri-food and environmental governance, peasant activism, competing agri-food knowledge claims and transmission processes, alternative farming practices and incorporation of innovation, mechanisms of precarisation and the social sustainability of small-scale agriculture, commodity and non-commodity outputs of small-scale agriculture, production of public goods, artisan and quality food products, alternative distribution chains, consumption of rurality.

many time I think they are complety pulling our leg, doesnt exist any kind of limit when also evrybody knows that the food is big face of the life of a society. the crazy Malthus in UK when he saw the growing of population thought the relationship was created in parallel quantities and misconceptions only, unfortunately persist today .... and all to believe not to understand and do something different with the beliefs . . , but the issue is complex (E. Morin)
The food system has three basic areas: PRODUCTION , DISTRIBUTION AND CONSUMPTION . These three areas have internal dynamics and interrelated. Not straight ... maybe zig- zag is not equal when it is near or far, with evergreen ... the truth is that we produced more than we need , why? To play and bet on the market, because that is the logical and distribution has perverse steps that result in tons of trash .. bread shelves vacate not be hard , but because the logique of this historical power get more quantities producing , same with everything. . grow grow..velocity ... and so trash cans with food in good condition as the sectors that are provided for them in turn create these sectors ... we also know that hunger can be stopped in a few months for a few months if not more , is calculated , allowed to consume some sweets rubish food (chuches) ... playing with life with no nutrients in many foods that eparecen s more to a plastic bag d chewable flavored anything and sociability also breaks the food is and awakens as human language .. soon, following these social rules in barns eat ... but humans are not so stupid and will leave plenty of fore wing movements , however small that the three moments of the food system so they play d eotra and eat and eat .. think .. because food production is human, and sun species trait that separates us from the animals but the powerful want us to submit to unscrupulous junk food for their profits .. Mead, said he had to look for small groups and generated changes .. so ... urban gardens , solidarity eaters , cooks / os migrants grouped , cooperatives, slow us d ecomida , freegans , pot ebBarcelona mobile d and almost every European city, the heart of France eaters .. you take this assembly language .. and should not be underestimated because it is the way ... ... ..
but also I wonder what happend with the place of the permanent complain- something different with a critic-, lookig through, and not change ..our anlyses, what kind of analyses we are doing when we are reading and know also this? What is our roll ? To be a vojeurs?
The disproportion in countless planes are indicators of performance is what is common, then we can say that kind of social change is occurring? Why yes and why not? Why some continuities and which are not? Disproportion is a parsable and indicative concept of social change? It is a useful category for analyzing hunger, social change, power relations? What are the parameters? I wonder...
