I am a postdoc at the Center for East and South-East Asian Studies of Lund University, Sweden, where I do research about children in China. Special interests are left-behind children and security, protection, rights and responsibilities of children in contemporary China, especially Sichuan. I have a PhD from Leiden University, the Netherlands. My thesis dealt with elite children in medieval China, 500-1000. Prior to that I studied Classical Chinese, Anthropology (and took classes in History and Philosophy) at Heidelberg University, Germany, and Cheng-kung University, Taiwan. Further interests are demonic birds, religion, world history.
