Introduction
I never have been very good with introductions, so I'll just throw something out and see what looks good.
I've always held an interest in learning about people, places, and the interactions between them, although it wasn't until a couple years back that I finally realized what I wanted to do as a career. My journey into the anthropological studies actually started back in high school, which, unlike the cliche, was fun and educational.
I attended a vocational high school called Jackson Academy of Applied Technology between Aug 2001 to May 2005. My vocational studies were in TV Communications, through which I learned a great deal about how people speak and their interactions with each other, both in person and across video connections.
I admit it, I was lazy working on my Associates. I entered Chipola College in fall of '06 and quickly came to consider my time spent among my "study group" to be more valuable than my time in the classroom. Don't get me wrong, I actually attended classes, but I learned more from open discussions around table studying and playing different games than I did from the actual classes. That's also not a slight against the teachers, it's just a personal observation. I went ahead and completed my Associates during the summer '09.
It was at this time that I figured out where my next step would be. I have applied and been accepted into the Maritime Studies Bachelors program at the University of West Florida to begin this Summer. I'm hoping that when I get out of there, it will be with a minor in Anthropology and, if I'm lucky, another in either Archaeology.
