Relocation, Relocation

I've suggested in a couple of OAC places that the heart of this site ought to be its Discussion Forum. That is where we can collectively exploit the threaded sociality that characterises this kind of website - a sociality that is primarily spun through threads not groups.

The individual and collective benefits of starting a thread in the Discussion Forum as opposed to a group are by now clear. As an individual thread… Continue

Thanks for the add. I actually work similarly on visual media and "nation-building." I was also at the U of Bremen not so long ago for the American Indian Workshop. Can't say I enjoyed the city in February though :P

I am very interested in mobile phones in Africa. Of all the platforms for the digital revolution only mobile phones have a built-in payment system. the web doesn't and this is a major problem. East Africans have lept at the chance to take advantage of this and in many ways they lead the world now as innovators. This may not in itself overcome the tremendous obstacles to economic development there, but, if I had said five years ago that parts of Africa are leading the world in commercial and other applications of mobile telephony, who would have believed it?
