The OAC Groups collection that I recently compiled has been well received. For those who missed the original announcement, this new Groups index makes it easier to see what has been happening across all 164 groups on this site by displaying the latest content on one page.

I have since created a second collection to easily display everything else, including the latest activity from blogs, forums, photos, videos, events and the recently launched offers forum. View it here: http://openanthcoop.collected.info

These collections are great for keeping track of recent content across the OAC, especially the items that are easily missed because they’re not on the homepage or because they’re more than a day or so old.
Collected.info lets you scroll back in time to catch up by clicking the “more” button at the bottom of the page.

Don’t worry, all links return you to the OAC so that you can contribute as usual.

Follow these instructions for more information on how to use the sites.

Bookmark these two links for easy access:

Finally, if you’d prefer to read the latest OAC posts in your Google Reader or another RSS service, just click on the grey RSS button in the top right-hand corner of each Collected page.

I personally maintain these pages via the third-party website Collected.info, so if you notice any missing links (for instance, if you’re a group owner and your group isn’t there), just let me know and I'll fix it.

I'm sure that I've mentioned this before, but you might also be interested in the mobile version of the OAC. If you have a decent mobile phone (mine is too old to support it, unfortunately) or smart phone, you can browse to here to keep up with the latest content: http://openanthcoop.ning.com/m

It's also an effective low-bandwidth alternative on normal browsers.

Thanks, Francine.

Just seen. I like this app; find it useful.

Great to hear it, Natalie. I use Netvibes too, mainly as a teaching resource. I like that the tab system lets you display a lot of information side by side. You can see my Netvibes page here, including the OAC tab, which might give you some more ideas. It's useful that Ning offers a lot of RSS options. It makes keeping up with content much easier.

thanks Fran.
this is really useful. I tend to use Netvibes to follow RSS so this is perfect as i was losing track of what's going on in OAC.

That's great, Fran. Thanks. I can tell from the number of hits on oac.collected that not many members use this function. Another tip is to hit the Follow button on any thread you are interested in, so that you get email notice of new posts.

I can guess why you put out this announcement as a blog post, since the Admins tend to hog the Forum for this sort of thing. All we need now is for it to be Featured for some longevity on the home page or listed in Nathan's This Week box.

I guess with some experimentation we will crack this tension between visibility and turnover of posts.
